Foster Waiver
I/We the undersigned FOSTER/S agree to the following terms and conditions of this agreement in the fostering of the above-described rescue dog herein referred to as DOG. This agreement will go into affect   and will continue until notification to Delilah’s second chance rescue, Inc., herein referred to as D2CR, by the FOSTER/S of the unavailability to continue fostering the DOG or of D2CR’s notification of ADOPTION of said DOG. Such notification to D2CR (for any reason), or D2CR’s notification to FOSTER/S of ADOPTION of said DOG shall be sufficient enough to terminate this agreement.

Delilah's 2nd Chance provides an extremely valuable service in the rescue of dogs. They offer a safe and secure home environment in which our rescue dogs can be evaluated and cared for while awaiting permanent placement. Delilah’s second chance rescue, Inc. (D2CR) considers its Foster Families to be essential to the welfare and proper placement of its rescue dogs, and wishes the experience to be enjoyable, free of misunderstandings, and eminently rewarding. The person(s) volunteering to serve as a D2CR FOSTER/S agree to the following terms:

1. Rescue Policy. The FOSTER/S will follow all relevant D2CR procedures & guidelines as described by the designated D2CR Director of Operations regarding foster care, and will make no decisions or actions regarding the DOG’s placement without prior approval from the Director of Operations.
2. Contact. The FOSTER/S agrees to let D2CR check on the DOG periodically and to contact D2CR when problems arise so they can be eliminated or alleviated. The FOSTER/S may be contacted by the Director of Operations, or a D2CR Board Member. It is expected that the Foster Parent/s promptly return phone calls/emails within 24 hours of when the original contact is made. If the FOSTER/S foresees moving from the original given address, the FOSTER/S must notify the Director of Operations with the new address, phone number and email address PRIOR of making the change. Vet expenses are covered by D2CR when D2CR administration approves the vet visit. If foster takes the dog to the vet on their own free will, in such cases as "foster to adopt" expenses are covered by foster/future adoptee and medical records must be sent to D2CR within 72 hours.
3. Humane Care. The DOG shall reside inside the FOSTER/S’s home and be treated as a household pet and member of the family. The DOG shall be afforded the same love and attention provided to the other household dogs (if any), and maintained in a stress-free environment. The FOSTER/S agrees to provide humane care, including but not limited to adequate food, water, shelter, exercise, socialization, grooming, and the same level of care as they do their own dogs. If necessary the DOG will be crated or confined to a portion of the home for not longer then 8 hours in a 24 hour period. Under no circumstances is the Dog to be left outdoors unsupervised (this includes no doggie doors from patio/home into yard, and or the use of an outdoor kennel for housing the DOG. In addition the Dog is not to be left unattended with small children at anytime
4. Heartworm Preventative. Heartguard Plus is dispensed by the Rescue and should be given on the exact date informed.
5. Evaluation. The FOSTER/S agrees to provide the DOG with a range of experiences to help determine the temperament, behavior, and personality of the DOG, and to communicate that to the D2CR Director of Operations for help with placement. Whenever possible, the DOG will be tested with children of different ages, cats, other dogs, and in a variety of everyday situations
6. Training. The FOSTER/S agrees to work with the DOG to solve such common behavior problems (ie: pulling on the lead, destructive chewing/digging, housetraining). The FOSTER/S shall provide any basic training necessary to the well-being of the animal and to help increase its adoptability.
7. Fencing. The FOSTER/S agrees that the definition of an adequate fence is a fence that prevents the DOG from jumping, digging, or exiting through gates not properly secured. The fence will be secure enough to prevent intruders or small children from easily gaining entry. The adequate fence does not include an electric or invisible fence. If the DOG jumps over or digs under the fence, it must be repaired by raising to 6’ tall or sealing any weak spots immediately. The DOG is never to be left unattended in the yard at any time.
8. Exercise. The FOSTER/S shall provide the DOG with a securely fenced yard or other humane means of exercise, and never allow the DOG off lead in unsecured areas. The DOG shall never be chained or kept constantly outdoors, nor be crated (wire crate only) for more than 8 hours in a 24-hour period of time.
9. Illness. Should the DOG become hurt or ill, the FOSTER/S is to notify the Director of Operations in order to get authorization to take to emergency clinic/animal hospital other than an approved D2CR animal hospital. Failure to do so will give D2CR the right to ask the FOSTER/S for some financial assistance towards DOG’s expenses. Please make sure you keep all receipts as the rescue will reimburse you.
10. Transporting. The FOSTER/S agrees to provide transportation to an approved D2CR vet office and/or to D2CR events. The Foster Parent agrees not to transport the DOG in an open vehicle, such as an uncapped truck bed or open jeep type vehicle . In addition, DOG shall not be left unattended in any vehicle (running or not, windows open or not) in any type of weather or for any amount of time.
11. Hurricane Warning. In the event of a hurricane warning and should the FOSTER/S need to evacuate, the FOSTER/S agrees to take the DOG with them and if not, to contact the Director of Operations to find an approved alternative for the DOG. 12. Local Animal Laws. The FOSTER/S agrees to obey federal, state, county, and municipal laws and ordinances in performing this service
13. Security. The FOSTER/S understands that the D2CR and its representatives have limited or no information regarding the temperament and habits of the dogs it rescues. The FOSTER/S will take all reasonable precautions (through the use of a wire crate, leashes, supervision, and common sense) to ensure that the DOG does not run loose, destroy property, injure or be injured by another animal, or injure or be injured by any person or persons. In cases where the DOG cannot be neutered immediately (ie: health reasons), the DOG will under no circumstances be allowed to mate. When integrating DOG with resident pets or children, extreme caution and constant supervision will be exercised to ensure the safety of all parties. Dogs that exhibit dog aggression will be separated by physical barriers (gates, wire crates, doors) to prevent injury.
14. Pre-Adopter Screening. The FOSTER/S agrees to be courteous, helpful, and honest to potential adopters, and to fully cooperate in accommodating those adopters who wish to see the DOG. The FOSTER/S agrees to provide full disclosure and cooperate fully with the designated Director of Operations & Team on the DOG’s care and placement.
15. Property Rights. The FOSTER/S understands that the DOG remains the property of the D2CR, and agrees to relinquish the DOG when the time comes to do so. D2CR recognizes and respects the emotional bond a FOSTER/S develops with a foster DOG, and will allow the family to participate in adoption process to the fullest extent possible. D2CR, however, reserves the right to remove the DOG from the home at any point in time and for any reason, with or without notice to the FOSTER/S. If the FOSTER/S can no longer foster the DOG, then the FOSTER/S agree to notify the Director of Operations immediately. The DOG shall not be sold, abandoned, relinquished to a pound or shelter or to any other Rescue group, transferred, or given to any individual, or to any retail or wholesale establishment for the purpose of sale or resale to the public, nor to any research institution where medical experimentation or other practices take place. Under no circumstances is DOG to be given to anyone other than a D2CR representative who is pre-authorized by the Director of Operations. If the DOG is returned to D2CR in poor health as determined by D2CR or by attending vet, then the FOSTER/S will be responsible for all and any veterinary treatment necessary to aid in the well-being as well as to increase the adoptability of the DOG.
16. Duration of Agreement. This Agreement remains in effect until notification to D2CR, by the FOSTER/S of the unavailability to continue fostering the DOG or of D2CR’s notification of adoption of said DOG.
17. Spay + Neuter Agreement. In cases, typically but not limited to; "foster to adopt" future adopter/foster must promise to bring dog to scheduled spay/neuter appointment. Under no circumstances can the appointment be missed. Our puppies are spayed/neutered between 8 weeks-16 weeks. Under no circumstance can spay/neuter be pushed to later date.
The FOSTER/S understands that non-compliance with any of the above terms can result in prosecution and the FOSTER/S agrees to pay D2CR any and all expenses, including court costs and reasonable attorney fees. The FOSTER/S acknowledges that D2CR has advised that the DOG may have been neglected or abused and may require special care or precautions. The FOSTER/S is aware the DOG may dig, chew, soil or exhibit other undesirable traits unless properly supervised and trained . In consideration to the fostering of this DOG, the FOSTER/S agrees to assume full responsibility for the conduct of the DOG upon this date of the agreement. The FOSTER/S agrees to hold harmless D2CR, its board, officers, directors, volunteers and any individual or affiliate involved with D2CR for any damages or costs resulting from liability, know or unknown, anticipated or unanticipated as a result of the DOG’s conduct on or after the date of this agreement on .
